In iso church today this image emerged. As we finish up on 1 Corinthians the letter from Paul leaves us with this.
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NIV
The strength we need for each day is something I don’t have on my own. In my own strength this is my incompleteness internally.
We often talk about something missing in our lives before we knew Jesus. A hole that we filled with things and experiences to try to fill the void. To fill the emptiness. Often I have described this and saw this as something small, but in illustrating this today, it became obvious to me that it was far more extensive. It reminds me of just how much God has done to fill the broken empty place within. This I am eternally thankful for.
This image today was also a response to the need to be filled daily with the word and truth of God. Paul is reminding us, instructing us and warning us to be on our guard. To stand firm and to be courageous in all we do and to also do this in love.
I know that the only strength I have each day comes from God. He fills in all the void that I can’t. That I could have never filled. He is my strength as he continues to prompt me, direct me and provide opportunity for me to grow. His grace is sufficient. The more I lean into his word, into knowing and living his truth. The more I can live in freedom and not fear. To live courageously. To love courageously.
If your void was visible, what would it look like? Where does your strength come from? What are the tools in your toolbox that fill this space daily and are they sustainable?
